Chain Link Fences: Which Type Suits Your Style?

Homeowners choose chain link fencing for a variety of reasons. It can be used to provide a safe play area for children and pets, as well as keep unwanted intruders from entering the yard.

Here are some different types of chain link fences to suit any homeowners' needs:

Galvanized Chain Link Fencing

Galvanized or zinc-coated chain link fence is the standard type of chain link fence. Here layered metal wires are intertwined to create a woven fence strong enough to keep children and pets safe and secure. The wire used to make the chain link comes in different gauges—normally 9, 10 and 11, with 9 being the thickest and strongest of the three options.

Galvanized steel does not rust and maintains its look for several years without being damaged or worn down by the weather and is best for commercial use.

Vinyl Coated Chain Link Fence

Vinyl coated chain link fences are the same as galvanized chain link, the only difference is that the fencing has been coated with a thin layer of vinyl. Your skin, children or pets may end up being injured or hurt if they come in contact with a sharp end of a wire or bracket of a fence. Vinyl coating eliminates the risk of obtaining these injuries.

Another benefit of this type of chain link fencing is that it enhances the curb appeal of the home, as it is available in a variety of colors. It can also raise the homes' resale value. While galvanized chain link fences remain a more durable option, the vinyl coated chain link fences are becoming a popular choice.

Aluminum Chain Link Fence

Aluminum chain link fences are lightweight, weather-resistant, corrosion-resistant, durable, and have a high tensile strength. They are coated in the same manner as the galvanized wire. This type of chain link fence is used in commercial or public places such as a school or ranch. They can last up to 25 years even in extreme weather conditions.

Stainless Steel Chain Link Fence

Stainless steel chain link fences have high alkali resistance, withstand high temperature, and resist harsh weather conditions. They are more durable than any other chain link fencing materials, so they are more expensive. As they are not prone to sagging, rolling, or breakage, they can retain their shape over a long period. This type of chain link fence is used for high-grade enclosures such as highways, airports, railroads, etc.

Consider all your options while choosing a chain link fence for your property.
